It was a true honor for me to attend the 7th edition of the Salon du Livre Afro-Canadien (SLAC) in 2024, where the theme was "Voyage en Francophonie." This year’s event was presided over by Edem Awumey, and it served as a vibrant celebration of Francophone literature and culture, bringing together authors, readers, and enthusiasts from various backgrounds.

Reflecting on my experience last year, I remember the pride I felt presenting Le Monde de Sabbih for the first time. I was fortunate to have the support of Vainess Mollel, the First Secretary for Economic Affairs, who graced us with her presence during the launch. Her endorsement was invaluable and made that occasion even more special.

This year, I had the pleasure of participating in a roundtable discussion titled "Le choix des noms des personnages dans les écrits et leur signification." Alongside esteemed Franco-Ontarian authors Amar Aiit Ameur, Karim Sigère, and Marine Sibileau, we explored the important considerations authors face when selecting character names. Our conversation delved into how names can shape narratives and influence readers' perceptions, making this a vital topic for anyone involved in storytelling.

The audience was incredibly engaged and eager to participate, which enriched our discussion even further. I cherished the opportunity to exchange thoughts and insights with attendees who share a passion for literature and the Francophone experience.

For those who missed the event or would like to revisit our discussions.

As I reflect on this year's experience, I am filled with gratitude and inspiration. I look forward to more enriching moments like these in the years to come, as we continue to celebrate and elevate Francophone voices in literature.
